The STR has won its first victory by removing from textbooks evidence of the evolution and ancestor of an avian, the Archeopteryx. Its sights are now set on removing snippets of Darwin's notorious finch research as well as on human evolution, too.

STR claims that it has the support of 4,000 families and individuals. Its aim is to root out what it sees as the "atheist materialism" that paints an unhopeful worldview for students. It also hopes to combat the influence of American Creationists in the nation. A survey of trainees in biology revealed that a majority of them did not believe evolution. The causes aren't clear, but may include religion and the absence of full-time creation scientists in the country.
