Robot vacuums and mops are becoming more adept, passing our tests of cleaning and tackling a variety of floor types. Find models that allow you to choose from multiple modes, use their charging dock to self-empty, and clean up the stairs.

Many of the top models are compatible with smartphones. Look for an app that lets you save maps, schedules and select cleaning modes.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The black and gloss gunmetal Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is one of most impressive mop and robot vacuum combos available. It uses lidar to navigate, create maps of rooms and floors (even multiple levels) and integrates with the free Eufy Clean app to let you set up schedules and modify the S1's behaviour.

The S1 was capable of mapping my downstairs quickly, which has flooring in the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms, as well as medium-pile and a large rug. It was able to drive close to walls without hitting them, and was able to traverse raised room thresholds with no problem, although it sometimes struggled to get down the stairs in one step. The S1 also did a fantastic job of cleaning hard floors by dragging its mop smoothly on the flat side against the floor and then lifting itself when it reached carpet or carpet.

Its navigation capabilities are pretty solid as well, though it is sometimes hung up on the tiny carpets or area mats that I have in my house (which is something you can control by creating a virtual border in the application). The mopping capabilities are quite impressive, and comes with a pair of spinning mops that actually lift and scrub floors instead of just dragging the pad over it. The mops are cleaned using heated water and dried in the base station as needed. Mops are also refilled from the top of the base station when required.

3. Dreame X40 ultra

Dreame launched the high-end X30 Ultra earlier this year, but their new top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum comes with more impressive features. It has fantastic cleaning results, and it is easy to maintain. This makes it a contender for our list of the best robot cleaner with mop vacuums and mop. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition, and an extended side brush will give you a thorough, customised clean.
