In our tests we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a range of floor surfaces, from medium-pile to hard carpets and rugs. It also did well on tiles, laminate floors, and vinyl flooring. It also did a good job of maneuvering between furniture and objects, although it did struggle with stairs, and could accidentally hit things like bookcases.

The S9's ability to return to its base and empty its dust bin when it's full was a great feature. It reduced the necessity for manual maintenance. The dust bag will last for about 30 loads or a month and half. You'll need to replace the filter every few months (as suggested by iRobot). Our experience suggests that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation which makes it a good choice for those who live with kids or pets.

Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Designed to take one of the most tedious tasks off your hands, robot vacuum cleaners do all the work and get hardwood and carpeted floors free of the everyday dust. The best ones are controlled and monitored via apps for smartphones and some have mopping technology for bathroom and kitchen floors. They're a great choice for busy families, and they are becoming more affordable. However, if you want the latest features for your robotic vacuum cleaner, you'll need to pay a little more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is a complete vacuum and mopping machine which makes it a great option for those living in a flat with multiple floors. The vacuum's 0.6l bin can hold plenty of pet hair. Its dual motors provide powerful cleaning power. The dust bin is easy to remove and empty which is great since you'll be required to do this regularly.

It's also easy to set it up, although I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the very first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will assist you draw an outline of your home. You can label rooms and divide large spaces into sub-rooms (good for open-plan living) and guide the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at a specific time. There are many other robots that offer similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's app is more refined and intuitive than others.

One of the best robot vacuum for hardwood floors features on the X8 Hybrid is that you can control the mop or wyze Vacuum robot using your voice, thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice addition that makes the robot even more hands-free. And it works well in our test house.

The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums has some problems with floors that are not fully covered. It can be unable to see pet hair or small items, and it tends to get into things, like its own charger at the charging base. It's not as quiet and the whirring noise can be distracting like other models.

Roborock V3S pro

The robot doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive models we tested however, it does have all the basics. It has a huge enough dust bin to hold a lot of dirt before it needs emptying, and its mop and vacuum system is great for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also extremely quiet, and we were able to watch television while it was cleaning without feeling like it was blazing us with noise.

Our testers loved how easy it was to install and use, and Wyze Vacuum Robot they were impressed with its ability to take all the messes off their floors. It even did a pretty excellent job of removing pet hair and other messes that get on carpeting, although it wasn't as successful in removing stubborn staining. The users found the app to be user-friendly and intuitive, and they were able to program the vacuum to clean regularly to reduce the amount they needed to do manually. The one downside is that it doesn't include any mapping technology or object avoidance, which means you aren't able to send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).

It beat out all other robotic vacuums in our tests when it comes to mapping and avoiding obstacles, and is the ideal budget option for those looking for a smarter self-emptying robot vacuum that is able to handle pet hair and messes both on carpeting and hardwood floors. It's also quiet and has a huge dust bin which can hold a lot of dust before it has to be empty.

The V3S Pro did not make it onto our top choice lists from trusted sources who conduct hands-on tests, however it was praised by Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They liked the ease with which it was setup and use, but they noted that its battery life is very short and it was unable to stay clear of some of the most stubborn mess we've put it through.
