BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the data bus CAN to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or installing new locks to bypass the security system.

Like other immobilisers, unlike other immobilisers, the Ghost doesn't use LED indications or key fobs. Instead it uses your vehicle's existing buttons to allow you to enter a specific disarm sequence that you only are aware of.

Stop & Start

If you've previously driven a brand new BMW or utilized the stop start feature, you may have noticed that after stopping the engine will continue to be running for approximately 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to check the vehicle for signals that comes from the ignition key. If it detects this, the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost is a device that stops this by stopping the vehicle whenever you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a revolutionary next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarms or key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessible through buttons on your car. This allows you to enter key sequences that are not accessible in normal menus for media. For instance, volume up/down or source controls, cruise control, air conditioning etc. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it hard for thieves to figure out.

Service Mode / Valet Mode

This lets you bring your vehicle to the garage for servicing, or other maintenance. without fearing that it will be modified by a mechanic while you wait.

If the service/valet mode has been activated and enabled, your BMW is unable to drive once it has been started. This stops anyone else from driving it while you're away. After you return, it will revert back to normal stopping your vehicle from being damaged or stolen once again.

If you don't wish to use a smartphone, or don't feel comfortable using it, we offer an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an additional cost and requires a separate Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly and more sophisticated the technology in security systems has to improve, which is why Ghost has created this discrete and unobtrusive immobiliser. It's designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your car and then drive it away. Ghost connects to your CAN data network and utilizes the buttons in your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence which needs to be completed before the engine can start.

Once the anti-hijacking mode is activated the attempt to restart the engine will be thwarted. The system will hone the horn flashing the indicators, and stop the vehicle when the code isn't found. By entering your push sequence, or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to be temporarily started without the need to enter the PIN.

If you own a GPS device connected to your BMW it can be used to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature, so you can still use the navigation system in your car whilst the vehicle is parked unattended. You can also use your mobile phone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect your ghost immobiliser review device to your mobile application for remote control of keyless go and start functionality. This is useful when you have to go somewhere else and valet or mechanic needs to start your vehicle. The system lets you start your car by selecting drive and then quit the service mode without using your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle's location in real-time on a map displayed on your smartphone, ideal for tracking your car when on the move.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard or inside the centre console, it is completely secure and untouchable and does not require additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised PIN code is programmed into it. This pin code needs to be entered before the vehicle starts. This will prevent thieves from gaining access to the system with a cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen and the Ghost will go into a service mode and shut down all functions unless the PIN code is entered, or you make use of the mobile app to disarm it. This feature was designed to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech thieves who utilize relay boxes to take it. It also stops thieves from being able to use their mobile phones to activate your sat-nav or MP3 player to track your car!

Ghost can also prevent the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most typical way a car is being taken away with a key-fob that was copied or stolen via hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device is installed inside the key-fob in your vehicle and will disconnect the battery after a couple of minutes of inactivity, this is possible on all modern PKE key-fobs.
