1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those who want a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include getting rid of any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum cleaner review vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot via the app or voice.

In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though, Remote Control Vacuum Cleaner is its self-emptying dustbin that removes a major source of maintenance and lowers recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room and sweep an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. When connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an automobile. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households however, it can also fit in well next to the table for a coffee or shelves that you can spin around like a magic device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It is able to swiftly switch from handheld to floor automatic vacuum, and vice versa.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average and not a remarkable time for a battery-powered cordless vac. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of an average-sized house but not long enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up most debris types and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top picks such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It may get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better able to move itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, can change its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a wider array of features for automation.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we've tested and could be a problem for some shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning robots station. This feature lets you to monitor your pets or children while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned to ensure an easy, quick clean-up.
