1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It may be stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it comes with all the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

In our testing, the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, top Rated robot vacuum to voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households and can fit in well next to the coffee table or a bookshelf that you can spin around like an enchanted device.

The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large crumbs and fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task being performed. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to best automatic floor cleaner.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's still enough time to clean most of a typical-sized home but not long enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor washing robot carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our tests, and it frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top Rated robot vacuum picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and top Rated robot vacuum carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is easy to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. However, it didn't do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature lets you monitor your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and dustbin can be cleaned for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. The robots come with an extra-wide cleaning path, as well as a dustbin that is 2X larger than the competition. The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually if needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, but it didn't register it as a cliff. Also, the ability to create a weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
