Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in minutes.

It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Also a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba.
