Following a series of social media posts that hinted at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Space Key is a project that was created in collaboration with an unidentified artist, and based on cutting-edge carbon fiber composite materials that were shipped to the International Space Station as research material, is a project which was announced by Lamborghini.

The digital artwork

The project is dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five items that unlock a unique digital art work NFT by an artist yet to be identified. Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth, the block was engraved with QR code that links to the digital component in the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Over 600 million pixels each of the five images, which were captured by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used a balloon equipped with a camera, which took each of the individual shots which were then combined into the final image. The result is an image that is completely out of the world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic view of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there is no exact date or location yet.
