How to Replace an audi key replacement near me G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated near the edges of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this information to regulate boost and fuel. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper timing chain. The code won't appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are various connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is operational, it should read around 1000 ohms. If you're experiencing issues with this part, check for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at full speed, i noticed a huge reduction in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was unclean. When I start the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline jump out but the 4th stays shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The replacement car key audi can start if the G28 is not plugged in and runs fine when it is connected but it still has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do, i feel i have pretty much ruled out everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find the spare in a salvage shop or parts store. It is easy to test them - just put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing upwards). They should be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines requires to be aware of the position and speed the crankshaft to make decisions regarding fuel injector timing, audikey etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger an engine shut down.

The signs of a failed G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or a misfire when in gear. It is possible that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these symptoms. They're cheap and easy to find especially if they're a Bosch sensor like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this part would be an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A damaged engine sensor could cause a variety of issues in your car. It is a crucial part of your audi q5 key's transmission, because it communicates to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is turning. This sensor can cause the transmission to malfunction and other components in the car to be affected.

1200px-Vauxhall_logo_2019.svg_.pngThe G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends a signal via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, as well as timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. There should be the resistance to be around 1000 ohms between these two points. This is a common feature across the programming audi keyfob key (Find Out More) 80-100-200-RS2 range, beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 DU You may also find some good ones in wrecking yards.
