The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and Best Robot Hoover socks, shoes and best robot hoover bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.

The smart best robot cleaner uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums that mop vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top best rated robot vacuum vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
