World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be costly, and there is a significant risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.

You'll often see in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your equipment. These are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

When a player upgrades the equipment they have the original item will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could be more expensive even if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. This will cause the Best item upgrader to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with an initial level and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can use up many resources.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value.
