World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already own. This can be done through any item upgrader NPC.

Upgrades boost the stats of an item, and can also add additional features based on the type of item. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB sorcs and Goldwrap for build casters.

Armour

Magic Items

A character is able to upgrade only one magic item upgrader kit at a time. If an upgrade project has been cancelled, no more upgrades will be made for that item. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to create or purchase, however they may offer other benefits.

Other utility items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player float in mid-air while moving, and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in all directions while on the ground. Many useful items can be immediately produced in the Engineering section, while others can be unlocked through research projects or experimental projects at the Proving Ground.

Players can gain more powerful utility items in addition to the items available in their regular inventory by purchasing them at the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items can be upgraded to make them more effective.

Most utility items increase the combat ability of a particular character or provide the player with some sort of advantage in navigation. Sharpening stones, made by the Weaponsmith, increase Power and Ferocity, while Maintenance Oils, made by the Huntsman will increase concentration and healing power. Other utility items can be used by the player to increase Damage or Condition Damage.

XCOM soldiers can equip one utility item to begin the campaign. A second slot is available once you have completed certain research, engineering, or research projects on the Proving Ground. During the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are created by equipping the Grenade Launcher, which allows the player to equip a Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot, while an offensive grenade can be placed in the main slot for grenades.
