World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example an item with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to the upgrade (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also give an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the Best item upgrade way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.

Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the various Glyphs and there are some rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Leveling

The system of upgrading items allows players to increase the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level requires a different number of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When the player upgrade an item the original item is replaced by the new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a problem because it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful however it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or swims like a dolphin). The item upgrader kit can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each each time you upgrade an item level upgrade, it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state and the player having to purchase more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will be reset to zero. Additionally, the item upgrader kit will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. For instance, a standard equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the expenses that are listed above.
