Three Wheeled Buggies

If you're seeking a buggy to run around in or a stroller that can be used for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily even in tight areas.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. They are, however, susceptible to punctures. Be prepared with a repair set.

Sturdy frame

New figures show that three-wheeled buggies that were the symbol of the decade that had more money than common sense, are in a steep decline. They have been replaced by four-wheelers that are able to be more versatile in terrain, while still looking swanky and being easy to push.

The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy can deal with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear, make it easier to move and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant and a toddler and found it extremely durable. It was able to handle cobbles, grass, and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was solid to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres, which are inflatable and require to be pumped up occasionally they have suspension built-in. It was extremely comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. You'll want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline to allow them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, while others only permit a parent-facing option.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels give your buggy greater stability when driving over rough terrain. This is perfect for off-road buggies. They also allow you to move the pushchair around tight spaces. A lot of three-wheeled buggies come with rotating front wheels that aid you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This also helps when you crash into an unintentional tree root or road, as the front wheel will lift up to keep you from hitting it.

Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite large, and may struggle to fit in tight spaces. This is problematic if you intend to are using it as a jogger or have to squeeze through doorways that are narrow when out and about. Luckily, most models have small folding options that let you take off the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

One of the primary benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much more maneuverable especially with a child in the back. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels spin at a quick pace and are incredibly maneuverable and are ideal for difficult terrains like cobbles, parks and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler with her infant and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain and the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also impressed with how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. I found it extremely stable when going downhill or over uneven ground."

The only drawback to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to be aware of when your home is a city. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.
