World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade item component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players make stronger versions of the equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player is able to have up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also give the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the Best item upgrader way to improve your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Leveling

Each item level requires a different amount of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets leveled up.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When the player upgrade the equipment they have it is replaced by a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This can be a disadvantage in that it could cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste lots of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade items slots.
