Its only minor issue is that it can hit objects and walls at full speed - but just a glance at the history of cleaning in the app tells you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A large LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance tasks are required, such as emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank with a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time, with the mop capable of operating for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend although we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or a vacuum/mop clean when examining a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

The only negative I found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary) but it's a challenge to remove the mount itself to wash manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mounts, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to allow voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40
