They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and automatic vacuum and mop robot. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum mop cleaner robot pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
