Insert the key in the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. This will activate the accessories but not start the engine. Repeat this 5 times, and then keep the key on the "on" position.

You'll then need to purchase a new case for your key fob. You can find these at any auto parts shop, and they're typically very affordable. Depending on the model, you may even get them without any electronic components.

To open the case simply push the flathead screwdriver into the slot in the middle. The case should break easily and, once you've done that, you'll have access to the internal electronics. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pull out the electronics.
