World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For Item upgrading example, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and item Upgrading enrichments are a particular type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is used (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will be available at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a high risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade items will ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade item component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Using a Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an individual player improves an item, the base item is replaced by a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can cause the item to become more expensive if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonus bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like dolphins). This item can be upgraded several times by increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item upgrades is highly useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of the non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Slots is a new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade.
