Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides an increase in linearity of any stat.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved by a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. In addition, many items can be reforged, which can increase their stats.

You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available in the world as well as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The most common method of upgrading equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are components that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while other components offer general bonuses.

There are a variety of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments can be used in any equipment type and offer fewer bonuses than those that are type specific. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item level upgrade gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.

Choose the item from your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The window will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected stats will be after the Upgrade item, and any required components or materials. If you do not have enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will show as Blocked.

The upper-right side of the screen shows the amount of upgrade components required to create an item. The cost of upgrading increases with the level of upgrade and rarity, however it can be reduced using a variety of methods, such as buying upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.

Most weapons can be improved by a prefix such as a rune, or an insignia. Other weapons can be improved by adding a suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item to add an adjective, such as 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any mods at all.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They animate in order to grab the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in communicating an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by certain amount. This is shown on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can do so. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the item you are in awe of.

Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

If you want to remove the glyph from an item, you will need to salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item within which it is placed however, you can salvage the upgraded item upgrading by using the glyph and its shards therefore it should not be considered a loss.

A glyph added to an item can cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to make it more valuable. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at one time. This is helpful for players who take lots of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens permit players to alter the affixes they use on their equipment and weapons, and they can be obtained through a variety of methods such as in mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with a random affix that is usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means higher-level items are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits for upgraded units. A reroll will roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.

Rerolls are a great option to upgrade an item, however, players should be aware that it will lower the overall ilvl of the weapon due to the number of rerolls required to increase it to the final level. This effect of lowering is most effective on Diadems and ring items, which have no other options for raising ilvls.

The system of rerolls has been criticised by players as being too expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it with money or food items that would allow players to alter their builds without spending too much time and effort. However, paid rerolls are not something that the developers would like to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to include a race change potion in the future.

Leveling

There are several ways to upgrade an Best item upgrade. The first way to level up an upgrade for an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of an upgrade for a stat. The second option is to boost the effect of the upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for the stat. Additionally, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to a more powerful upgrade type.
