BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from replacing the ECU or putting in new locks to bypass the security system.

Stop & Start

If you've previously driven a brand new BMW or used the stop-start feature, you may have noticed that once stopped the engine will still be running for approximately 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuously monitoring your vehicle for signals from the ignition key, and when this signal is detected, it will keep running. Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a new generation device, doesn't require cutting OEM wires or add aftermarket alarms and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This lets you enter a specific key push sequence that is not in the normal menus for media, like volume up/down, source, cruise control or aircon on and stops your car from starting until it is entered. The PIN is between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to guess.

Service / Valet Mode

Ghost developed this discreet, unobtrusive device to combat the ever-increasing sophistication of high-tech thieves. It is designed to prevent thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your vehicle and drive away. Ghost Immobiliser Car links up to your CAN data network and uses the buttons on your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence which needs to be entered before the engine can be started.

Once the anti-hijacking mode is activated, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. The system will honk the horn flashing the indicators, and stop the vehicle if the code is not found. The Anti-Hijack feature is removed by entering your push sequence, or by enabling service mode, which allows your vehicle to temporarily start and drive without having to enter your PIN.

If you have a GPS device connected to your BMW and you want to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to use your navigation system when the vehicle is parked. If you own a smart-phone, you can also link it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal PIN code is programmed into it. The pin code has to be entered prior to the vehicle's start. This prevents thieves from bypassing the system by using a cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a service mode and disables all functions unless the PIN code is entered, or you use the mobile app to disable it.
