As with other premium iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, Best robot Hoover and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum with mop we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for robot vacuums with mop different areas of your home depending on how dirty they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
