Some models have superior navigation and obstacles avoidance. Others even wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free cleaning.

The Eufy S1 Pro

If you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner vacuum that can also mop, this is the model to look for. It is smaller than other models, making it easier to maneuver into tight corners or under furniture. It features a 220 degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best navigation and object avoidance I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It's got a battery of 4600mAh that can last up to 170 minutes if cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can be more efficient when using turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.

It's quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the hallways, and living room in one go. Its 8,000pa motor is able to clean dirt as well as pet hair and droppings easily. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the dual side brushes help draw away debris from corners.

The mopping performance is a little less impressive, though not by much. The rotating mop spins fast and utilizes 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a little more than other robots that vacuum and mop. This is useful when you're trying to get into tight corners or along baseboards. The front arms can also be employed to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and fallen books.

Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot mop vacuums and mops I've ever tried. It is quieter and doesn't create more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's simple to install and works well however this is something you'll need to be aware of if you're buying this robot vacuum solely for the purpose of it mopping.

The Matrix Plus also did a surprising job of picking up hair of pets. It was able to capture a large amount of hair that our cats shed and even was able to get into the nooks and crannies of our stairs which other robots struggled. It was fairly quiet and even had some pleasant jingles that let you know when it was beginning or finishing its work.

Its biggest drawbacks were its simple app and the requirement to switch out the modules when switching between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't store multiple maps. This can be an issue if your home has multiple floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want an intelligent robot that can do both vacuuming and mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. It does however, have distinct features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its huge dock, which doubles as a charging base and the housing for two 4 liter water tanks, a clean sink, and the 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically eliminates.

The base has a few control buttons that let you manually begin a cleaning task, recall the robot or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are worried about their kids messing around with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally become so entangled with an obstruction, such as a power cord draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. This was a rare occurrence however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert on its app.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad, except that the mopping pad isn't cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a significant contrast to the utilitarian, black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome sight in a space which is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
