Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet messes in one session, without having to switch between devices. They also can save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer at a modest price and is among the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean, complete dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For instance, you can request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and its smart navigation technology are excellent too, with the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only minor issue is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, an instant glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.

The docking station features a handy LCD screen that shows the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and washing the dirty water tank. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank, using a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being able to operate for 184 minutes in Quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is easy to use and intuitive, allowing you to see all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop is the most up-to-date version. This year's model has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that enables it to pick up smaller hairs and Robots that vacuum and mop other particles other robotic cleaners could miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two I tried, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates two cameras that can recognize objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It can then change its course in a way that is automatic and clean around the objects, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular style is striking and only has three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin automatically refills.

The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. You can change the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount for manual washing. I've found any plush carpet that the robot vacuum cleaner touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mounts, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and Robots That Vacuum and Mop set up these smart features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. You'll need to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with cutting-edge features, high suction power and advanced mopping capabilities. Its smart design allows you to customize and efficiently clean while saving time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best options available. This powerful vacuum removes dry mess, including pet hair and dust. It has a mop of top quality that cleans hard floors without using a pad. Additionally the X40 is very quiet during it's operation, producing only occasional bursts of noise when switching modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.

Another standout feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush which lets it get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture such as table and chair legs. It also allows the robot to access low-profile furniture making it an ideal option for apartments or condominiums with small spaces. The side brush automatically tilts down when detecting wet spots. This is a nice addition that helps the X40 avoid damaging floors with the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Unlike other robots, which are limited to a single task, the X40 can mop and vacuum at the same time. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, or reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or via Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is user-friendly and simple to use and the X40's intelligent features are a breeze to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, view floor plans and mapping, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous convenient features, making it a great choice for busy families. The docking station will automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads and refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also tell when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you when it overflows, reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. It does have many features that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can clean pet hair and small dirt particles - in addition to removing spills and wet spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This feature is great because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a useful method of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

There's a wealth of options available that include the ability to schedule cleaning times and alter a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app or there are direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options to customize the cleaning process, and there are many functions that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles instead of using an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design that has a white-and-metallic look that looks sophisticated and classy. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and feels robust and well built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
