It also comes with a feature called smart mapping, which makes use of multiple sensors to determine the areas of your home that require attention and create a cleaning path around them. The Roomba 980 is still one of the top performing robots on our list, despite these minor limitations. It's also less expensive than other top-of the-line models. It has many of the features we would expect from a top model, but it doesn't have all the fancy apps or smart home integration you'd find in other top contenders.

The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and get working immediately. After taking off the battery pull tab and yellow bin insert from the undercarriage, all you have to do is plug it into its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, hit its large "Clean" button, and let it go to work. It will return to its dock when its battery is out or is full of debris. It also has indicators at the top for when its bin is full or it's time to recharge, or its Wi-Fi signal is lost.
