The Roomba J7+ is iRobot's smartest robot vacuum to date. Its greatest breakthrough is its camera-based obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects like charging cords, shoes, and the dreaded pet waste many other robots are unable to avoid (and often plough right through). It's the first robot to send you pictures of the objects that it encounters, so that you can tell the robot to stay clear of it.

It's simple to control via the iRobot Home app that lets you schedule cleaning and set up Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't vacuum areas you don't want it to. This is their least expensive auto-empty model, and although it lacks certain features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still a great option if you're willing to compromise a bit in order to save hundreds of dollars.

The Q5+ is exceptionally soft when it comes to obstacles like table legs and walls. This makes it a great option for homes with many furniture pieces. It's also very thorough when it comes to getting rid of dust bunnies which is a problem where cheaper robot vacuums often be a bit sloppy. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is excellent and [Redirect Only] has very few misses in corners and along walls.

The Q5+, like other Roborock products can be controlled via a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. The app lets you start and stop cleaning. You can also set up schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones and alter your home map, or re-label rooms.

If you choose to purchase the Q5+ model, it comes with a new auto-empty dock specifically designed to make the robot simple to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, but once it's installed, emptying the bin can be accomplished with relative ease. It comes with a huge LCD screen which is helpful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This isn't a necessity for the majority of people, but it's one that will help you keep track of your robot's maintenance intervals with ease.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum bot and mop is a sophisticated, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of mopping and vacuuming. Its design and functionality are among the most advanced available however, it's also expensive.

Its base station looks good and hides it when not in use, and the size is relatively compact. The main reason to buy the station is the fact that it automates a variety of tasks, chores and functions that other robots leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot clean and charged.

Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's the only robovac I've tried that does a good job picking up the dust from floors with no. It's also not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

However, the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly in terms of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs. This means that it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain corners or rooms in the home. It can't navigate stairs as well as competitors, either and doesn't come with a dock that lets you to set up an area for cleaning that is specifically designed for carpets that are soft.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for those who need a vacuum robot that can do it all.

However, if you're looking to save some money, or just don't care about the limitations of this machine, there are plenty of other great choices on the market which include a variety of eufy models priced significantly less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance, is cheaper and offers an identical experience on the app with more features, including stairs, a fully-function dock, and a better overall performance when vacuuming floors and low and high-pile carpets.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

Eufy, an Anker company, has a track record of producing robot vacuums that strike a good balance between features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different, offering a capable cleaning of hard floors and mopping, carpets and other surfaces at an affordable price point. It's easy to set up, just attach one of the side brush, turn it on and plug in your charging dock. The app guides you through several steps to connect to your Wi-Fi and then the G30 is ready to go. The dock should be placed near an outlet with plenty of space to move.

The G30 is a compact device that measures 2.85 inches in height, meaning it can be placed under most couches and pieces of low-clearance furniture. Its design is more subtle in comparison to other models. It features a sleek black finish with three physical buttons for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs the area in a spiral fashion over two minutes), Recharge, and Spot Cleaner. It is also possible to connect the G30 with Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do unscheduled cleaning.

The way the G30 cleans is what separates it from its rivals. It makes use of a built-in map to create an image of the non-movable objects that are in its path, remembering what it's already cleaned and where it can't access. It then returns to the base to recharge and then continues cleaning the area it left.

The sleek G30 has some flaws. The iRobot Roomba 675 is much better built, incurs lower recurring costs, is charged more quickly and has the same battery life. It also offers better performance on floors with no carpet and carpets with a low pile. It has a bigger dust bin, which does not require the same amount of emptying. It also has border strips that block it from certain areas. The G30, however is more affordable and a lot simpler to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't need to be emptied as frequently and it's less trouble with bulky materials like cereal.
