1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They have motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robot mop vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, robot Hoover but it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, robot hoover cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaner best employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
