Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Upgrade components

If you do have a rune or glyph that hasn't yet been added to your gear, you can move it to a different piece gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

You can take out a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.

A glyph added to an item can cause it to be unstable, and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also add a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly rather than all at one time. This is beneficial for players who are taking a lot of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for upgrade options, but they can still be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, item upgrader mod therefore items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

Leveling
