Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top rated robot vacuum model in the iRobot flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This removes the need for Top rated robot Vacuum regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to collect large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model also has docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments and an wand clip. This is a big improvement over earlier Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical not an extraordinary run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is enough time to vacuum the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second pass generally works). It could pick up most types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area many times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that is seen on a variety of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides a range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tested which could be a deterrent for some buyers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the budget robot vacuum's area of cleaning. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and filter are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard flooring.
