Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key is being developed in collaboration with a non-disclosed artist and based on advanced carbon fiber composite materials that were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a project that has been announced by Lamborghini.

Lamborghini, the Italian car manufacturer, is taking a first step into the world non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new project, dubbed the Space Key - is a piece of art created in collaboration with an unidentified artist. The one-of-a-kind NFT is a physical item which connects to a unique digital artwork, accessible via a QR code that is located on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made of carbon composite materials that Lamborghini as part of a research project in 2019, sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was then crafted into a unique artwork when it returned to Earth. The physical component is equipped with an NFT serial code that connects to the digital artwork via QR code located on the back.

NFTs, for those not familiar are unique identifiers that are stored on a distributed ledger of the blockchain and connected to digital assets like a photograph or video, song or any other kind of record. This lets owners ensure the authenticity, scarcity and tracking of their tokens across the internet.

Working with NFT PRO which is a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to a new level. The physical element of Space Key

The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to create the base of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital artwork through the QR code that is on its backside. Only five Space Keys were produced.

NFTs are unique identifications that can be stored in distributed ledgers, like the Blockchain and linked to a digital asset like images. It's a hot subject among people who have more money than they have common sense. So it was only a matter of time until automakers decided to cash in.

Space Key is made up of five units. It was designed using a piece of carbon fiber composite. It was delivered to the ISS back in the year 2019. Each NFT will be linked with an exclusive digital artwork by the same artist using a QR code on the backside of the carbon fiber element. In the coming weeks and days, more details will be revealed, including the name and digital artwork of the artist as well as how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork

After months of social media posts hinting at it, luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. It's called the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock a unique digital artwork NFT by an unidentified artist. Created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) the "collector's item" is limited to just five units and will be auctioned off soon.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth the block was inscribed with a QR code that links to the digital element within the Space petron key to lamborghini.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. More than 600 million pixels make each of the five images which were shot by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner employed an inflatable camera fitted with lenses to capture the individual images, which were later added to the final picture. The result is a photograph that is out of this world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic view of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and time of the auction hasn't been announced yet.

The auction

Lamborghini the premium automaker, has entered the world non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the slogan "to the moon". The project was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT made of carbon fiber composite material, which traveled to the International Space Station in 2019 for research purposes. The physical sample has been cut into five distinct objects that connect to exclusive and digital artworks created by an as-yet undisclosed artist via the QR code printed on their backs.

The auctions, which will be held between February 1 through February 4, will last for 75 hours and 50 minutes, the same time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter lunar orbit. The five NFTs can be purchased by making an online registration. Each one will be sold separately and the winner will receive an original digital art work created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different times the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
