World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will increase 3percent of its previous damage each time it is upgraded.

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be inserted. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or item upgrader ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of an armored weapon or. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure how much it can be improved upon a reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate chances of failure, and some upgrades that provide a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible to level 15.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.

Each level requires a different number of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When the player upgrades a piece of equipment it will be replaced by the new item. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item level upgrade comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a disadvantage since the item may become more expensive even if you do not require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or swims like dolphins). This item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. Requirements
