Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt) and wet messes (spills or staining) in one time without the need to switch out devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot should have impressive navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer at a modest price and is one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean, complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops are spun at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You could, for instance request the robot cleaner with mop to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only drawback is that it tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However an inspection of the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what the robot done, where it is going, and which obstacles it has encountered or avoided.

The docking station has a handy LCD screen that displays the need for maintenance, such as emptying debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It also mixes detergent into the tank by itself by using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro best automatic vacuum cleaner and mop come with plenty of running time, with the mop capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in standard mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can view the complete cleaning details within the app, which is intuitively laid out and easily understood, though we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when examining a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular robot vacuum and mop. Unlike last year's model, this one features a double agitator in its mopping pad, which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that enables it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.

Like the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which can help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating two cameras that can recognize objects, robot vacuum determining if they're walls or other surfaces. It is able to change its path automatically and clean around them without missing a step.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek, angular style is striking and only has three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin auto-refills.

The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. It is possible to change the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot vacuums that mop passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, which could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these using the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas or vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, good robot vacuum and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and intuitive The X40 is equipped with many clever features that are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at certain times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, change modes, look at maps and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous features that make it a great option for busy families. The docking station will automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads, then refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It will also tell you whether the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive models available, but it packs in a lot of additional features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mop heads, makes use of two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles and pick up spills and dirty spots.

The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This feature is great as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum and mop models. It could be a great way to keep your home clean longer.

There are plenty of options, including the ability to schedule cleanings and adjust preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or you can utilize the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers many options to customize the cleaning process, and there are a lot of features that other robots don't include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles instead of relying on the manual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on the market, with a white and metallic design that looks elegant and classy. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this list but it's not a lot of weight. It feels solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
