However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover (mouse click on Uwan) for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot automatic vacuum and mop and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that vacuum and mop that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuum uk vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
