Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and Best Robot Hoover can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and Best robot hoover bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and automatic vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot automatic vacuum and mop robot/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuum best vacuums we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
