The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum robot hoover (a fantastic read) for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot cleaner with mop we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some additional cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot vacuums that mop employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
