World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of an armored weapon or. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher tier version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant risk that the item may become obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as possible.

It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade items your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes faster.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing the Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to think about placing them near crucial damage nodes too.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor can be transformed into a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new Best item upgrade comes with its own bonus. This could be a drawback, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough tokens to be able to do so. This causes the item level upgrade to be exchanged for a brand new one, with an initial level and a totally different set of bonus bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can waste a lot of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides buffs when the player continuously enters or exits water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is very useful in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor Item upgrades set pieces also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Each each time you upgrade an item it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition, which requires the user to spend more money on materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained like crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is computed each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. However, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs that are listed above.
