Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. 3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaner reviews in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, Best Robot Hoover and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Additionally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
