World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item upgrader mod is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the defense or attack attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can get the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure how much it will be improved following the reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a substantial risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade will cause the destruction of the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.

You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each level requires a different amount of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets leveled up.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When a player upgrades an Best item upgrader, the base item upgrade will be replaced with a new item. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a problem because it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can use up many resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their gear.
