In Path of Exile, item upgrading (navigate to these guys) is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying on big-ticket drops or trade. This article will show you how to upp your items efficiently.

Upgrades to equipment grant an additional bonus to the item's stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the items that improve your armor and weapons better. You can find them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors, or finding them in the form of item-spheres. Unlike most other items, upgrade components are not destroyed when removed from an item.

Each component is assigned an experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item will gain when upgraded using the component. It is recommended to upgrade organic components first until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment and then switch to the mechanical upgrades.

In addition to the multiplier of experience, each item also has the maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of items that are upgradeable is determined by their upgradeable rank, and the kind of upgrade they can get. The highest level of upgrade is a weapon with the tier 10. However, the most popular upgrade items for weapons is the tier 6 weapon and a tier 5 armor upgrade.

Sets

A set is a collection of items that have a bonus. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least once, and the upgrade will increase the guaranteed bonuses. When you first upgrade the set piece or weapon will give it a +1 increase to its primary stat.
