It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and [Redirect-302] it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots.
