Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The best method to upgrade your equipment in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This lets you improve it without having to rely on expensive drops or trades. This article will show you how to upgrade items your gear.

Upgrades to equipment give an additional bonus to the item's stats. The amount of bonus varies based on the rarity and level of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components are the parts that improve your armor and weapons more effective. You can find them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma sellers or finding them in the form of item-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that contains them or by using a high-tier salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed by removing them from an item.

The main function of upgrade components is to allow an item to be upgraded but they also serve other purposes. They can be stacked in order to increase the level of experience gained by upgrading existing weapons or gear. They can also be forged to give additional bonuses. A crafted glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target, and a boost upgrade increases the attack or defense attributes of the weapon.

You can attach an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will show the upgrade components that the item can be upgraded. You can also use the workbench when selecting an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components are collected.

Each component has a unique experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item can gain when upgraded using that component.
