The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or best robot hoover school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot vacuum cleaners best that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot cleaner on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful.
