WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, Item level upgrade armor and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Many locations offer Item level Upgrade upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade item discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade item recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item upgrading level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Item Level upgrade Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
