WoW Upgrades - The item level Upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade items system has been modified a bit, and several new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less, even if they belong to a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for Item level upgrade specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader kit upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, Item level upgrade or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
