The Item Upgrader in World of Warcraft

The War Within introduced two gear upgrade currencies, Valorstones and Harbinger Crests. These can be exchanged at the item upgrader NPCs, Cuzolth and Vaskarn.

Each item may be upgraded to the maximum level once for a slot. Upgrades to that slot are then cheaper afterward. Additionally the pity system introduced in The War Within lowers extreme variation in the chance to upgrade.

Upgrades

In gaming upgrades are components that increase performance or add new features. Upgrades can be bought or earned in a variety of ways including through in-game events or cash shop items.

The upgrade textures are rendered over the item level upgrade model which may hide enchantment info as well as other details.

Another disadvantage is that upgrades can be costly. Every step in a gear's stage of upgrade costs a certain amount of Valorstones or crests based on the slot and level. Weapons generally require more crests and Valorstones to upgrade than gloves or bracers, for example. There are however, a few cash shop items that could help lower the cost of upgrading.

Recycles
