Fortunately in 2022, the new owner of Miami Seaquarium pledged to work with a group of Lolita advocates known as Friends of Toki and the Lummi tribe, who consider her an ancestor, on a plan to eventually move her to the open water. The plan would have included a sanctuary on Washington's west coast where she could live for the rest of her life, receive medical attention and be monitored by researchers.
