1. iRobot Roomba j7+

The Roomba J7+, iRobot's smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its greatest innovation is a camera-based obstacle detection system that makes use of built-in AI to recognize objects like charging cords, shoes, and the dreaded pet waste many other robots are unable to avoid (and often go through). It's the first robot to send you pictures of the objects that it encounters, so that you can instruct the robot to stay clear of it.

It's not too expensive, and the iRobot app makes it very user-friendly.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use, however we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a long time to download updates, and sometimes it's hard to determine whether the update actually working until you've seen it in the action.

2. Roborock Q5+

When you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean smart robot floors, your best option is probably one that is a hybrid. These machines are equipped with a water tank so they can vacuum and mop at the same time. These bots also have various additional features like smart mapping and small object avoidance and the capability to wash and dry mopping pads. They're expensive at retail, but they often come down in price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock produces several of our top robotic vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. disappoint. It's their cheapest auto-empty model. While it's not equipped with some of the premium features that are found on more expensive models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save a few hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is remarkably gentle when it comes to obstacles like table legs and walls. This makes it a great choice for homes that have a lot of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies, which is an area where cheaper robot vacuums can really fall short. The Q5+'s navigation is excellent, with few misses along walls and in corners.

Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled using the buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. Through the app, you can begin and stop cleanings, set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones and modify your home map, or change the labeling of rooms.

If you select the Q5+ model, it comes with a new auto emptying dock that is designed to make this robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, but once in place it can be accomplished easily. It has a large LCD screen which is helpful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This isn't an essential feature for most people but it can help you keep the track of the maintenance intervals for your robot effortlessly.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot vacuum and mop that's impressively clever in its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design and functionality are some of the best on the market however it's expensive.

Its base station looks good and hides it when not in use, and the size is quite compact. The station's most appealing point is how it automates various tasks and functions that most other robots leave up to you. It stores clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and ensures that your robot charged and clean.

Its vacuuming is also impressive. It's one of the only robovacs that I've tried that does an excellent job of picking up debris on bare floors, and it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot the 900 series.

The Freo X Ultra is not without flaws, especially in the area of navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren’t as reliable as other robotvacs. This means that it could get stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of the house. It can't climb stairs as well as competitors, and doesn't come with an dock that allows you to set up an exclusive cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.

Although it doesn't provide as many in terms of cleaning-related options in its app or as many in-app shortcuts like other robovacs the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for anyone looking for a comprehensive mop and robot vacuum that's worth the price price.

If you're looking to cut costs or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are alternatives available. Many of the eufy models cost significantly less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for example is less expensive and offers a similar in-app experience with more features like stair climbing, a full-function dock, and superior overall performance when vacuuming floors and low and high-pile carpets.

4. eufy RoboVac G30
