One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuums best that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, best robot hoover although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
