World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for item upgrader non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending.
