The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its automatic vacuum and mop cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.

If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot hoover and mop vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and best robot hoover less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba.
